So why create the sub-forum called map tactics?
Which you were going to give access only to certain members (CT and non CT) to edit tactics.
Since you knew how open we're leaving ourselves with the current set up.

Well, I did something now. You can still commit your tactics the normal way, but instead of being put online on CTWF they enter a RSS feed. Mods get links if they want to approve or disapprove the new tactics, and only then they're used.

I've had a go at changing some of them, mainly trying to keep them short and sweet (the one for nano team sumo was ridiculously long and crap anyway) but theres a few problems:
The reader has to know what grind means.
The reader has to know what centre/center means.
So they are pretty useless for brand new players (not that they will know how to press page up to read them anyway).

so who are they for?

They are readable for a few seconds currently, and even longer if the client has to download the map they're referring to, so everyone should have a chance to read them.

I think the main problem is that I don't know if they're all that correct. Some suggest things that noone is really doing, and that could seriously mess the game up.

They're just experimental, if they don't prove to be useful I'll take them off the server again.

I have tried to keep them basic, like grind centre and split early. They are readable, but no more than a line or 2 max, some of the current ones are 4 and 5 lines of twaddle.

Here's a couple of my favourites (to show that im not being pedantic, they are just poo)...

for Nan's Castle:
Boxish nano map.

for hairbrush:
Sort of like Chimneys but less pillars/towers and no sneaking around. The way to beat this one is to trap an enemy into a brush thingy (one of the columns) and watch them fruitlessly try to not use their rubber up on the curved surface.

just wow. what happens if they havent played chimneys yet?

I really think the /help needs to be implemented to at least explain what grinding is and does and some other basics.

Surely this isn't a 'tactic' though?

That's a good idea, it would be easy enough to implement.
A long description for the server section only and a short tactics field that shows up on CTWF.
But then they would need filling in for what? got to be over 50 maps.

i see that the /help is implemented but says nothing but how to use page up
here is what i have in mind or it
Code:
0xff0000Object:
The object of a fortress server is to attack the other teams zone before that get to yours. The only other way to win is to kill all of the opponents. On most maps you will need to GRIND your teammates to gain speed at the start.

0x00ff00Terms:
Grind: Go up next to the centers trail and grind. "grind" means: if you drive close parallel to a tail you become faster. if you overturn the one you are grinding on, (s)he gets speed too. this way you speed each other up. many grinders add their speed to VERRRY fast. Don't worry if you die your first time; it takes practice; take your time.

Break(Split): Go outward away from the center. It's better to do this before a clash happens. Outsides should split a little earlier so that inner teammates have space to go.

Brake: Press "V" unless you have configured the keyboard differently.

Zone: The colored spinning thing. Red is Death. Green is win. Team colours are fortress.

Def: Short for "defense" - the (at least) one who makes sure that no one conquers the team zone.

0x0000ffTypes of maps:
Chico: it takes 16 turns to make a complete circle (16 axes)

Deca: it takes 10 turns to make a complete circle (10 axes)

Octa: it takes 8 turns to make a complete circle (8 axes)

Hex: it takes 6 turns to make a complete circle (6 axes)

Normal: it takes 4 turns to make a complete circle (4 axes)

Please consult wiki.crazy-tronners.com or other players for any additional help.

for that last line probably use the orange color.

most of that is taken from the wiki anyways

sounds good kyle but...
