We all know lots of noobs come to ctwf, it's a crazy-maps server, it's normal.
I have an Idea for skilled players who don't want to be annoyed by starting players.
Once we get auth on ctwf (yep my idea starts with auth Razz)
we decide a time (daily, weekly... or even changing (polls?)) when "skilled" players only play. by "skilled" I mean people who can grind normally.

at this time, some server configs change:
no auto-join, you have to press escape -> join a team.
people under "remote user" can't join, means only authed players can play (newbies are out)
message of the day explains the situation and gives a link where details are (some skilled players don't auth)

here is the basic Idea, let me know what you think

I don't play much there mostly because of noobs, and I think lots of other players do the same

I know that, that's why "remote user" is the lowest required level to join the game (maybe also people logged in through an admin/moderator with "/op")

an auth'd player doesn't mean a player that knows how to grind

The idea is good. If it will be concluded, even better.
I think it's quite probable that a player learns to grind before learning to authenticate.

there's already some LMS servers out there supporting auth
most of the players there will understand by grinding "getting close to a wall" and not getting close to the center player's wall

while currently it might work, it will be soon obsolete

ya but if you say grind your teammates then grinding is applicable in that case. it just takes them a bit to get used to the rubber and splitting.

Maybe with an authed ctwf there can be some moderation as well...

Why not 2 servers? Ct has 2 servers rarely used, catfight and dogfight. Why dont you use 1 of those?

CT has several servers, they are never all online at the same time.
ctwf is always online, bugfarm clone is most of the time online and nowadays, catfight 2 is online.
flower sumo is not right now, but it usually is online too.

anyway, let's admit we have ctwf, bugfarm, dogs and cats running all the time.
then, changing cats to a "no-noobs" ctwf would make the server very busy, and up to 14 (16?, more?) players on this server. that would make it laggy.

I'm not a server expert, I don't know exactly which server is on which machine, but having 3 servers full (ctwf, bugfarm clone, ctwf clone) and even maybe 4 (flower sumo) will create lag for sure.

hope I was clear, still if the server admins disagree with me, it's a good idea

i put up a ct clone for battles to test it out. it was extremely laggy once the normal wild fort got full. so i don't think we can support 2 CTWF's on 1 vm possible 2 different vm's, but there is a lot of down time and who is going to teach those n00bs?

I'm thinking maybe a set time for a second server (maybe when i get bugathon made there can be certain times for just CTWF)

NErD: that would be the same as auth, every registered user can auth, why do you suggest that?
