With the help of wrtlprnft and his fantastic transformamap app we have 3 twisted maps. Axes and walls all out of whack.

The server pages have images. Try them out, they're interesting and fun (I hope).
And I'm sorry I killed the server so often in the process. I promise to check and double check in future.

left turn=90 degrees, right turn=45 degrees, so 2 right turns turn the same amount as one left turn

Nah, that's not possible.

What would be interesting is 80 degree turns. So you have to turn 9 times to make 2 full circles, but you can't grind all walls

On a side note: the aliens are in my bed map has a reduced wall count now, and the circuit board map is back, also with fewer walls.

is what i was talking about but still that means 2, 45's then a 90.

i think dragon wanted that one left turn = 2 right turns, always. So if you turn left two times you need to turn right four times to drive into your original direction. And that's just not possible with the current code :s

You could easily reverse the controls so that left goes right and right goes left.

You can do some pretty funky stuff with axes.
Trouble is, each map plays only once about every 72 rounds at CTWF (if there's 6 maps for that round, others have more). This would not give you a chance to get used to the crazyness of the map.
Well, a few die hard players would grasp it, the rest would drive into a wall within the first couple of seconds and probably go to another server where left is left and right is right.

Crazy is good. Frustrating is bad.
I've tried many different variations of crazy axes, it takes me a while to get used to them and I know what to expect.
True, you could create a server with only a few maps and really crazy axes, this would give players a chance to get used to them. It might even be popular, who knows. I thought mayhem would be popular, it wasn't. Yet Chico Styball, which was just a test, is still going strong.


I would say it's supposed to be fun. Annoying is not fun.

eh annoying is fun once u figure out how to beat it...
its the thrill of overcoming or watever...

i only like twisted maps were the turning is diagonal just because its so easy to defend and people are really scared to attack other twisted maps are ok but no way as good as *thinks of name* twisted little bear
