I thought I'd try to create a moviepack specifically for Chico's Styball Server.
But my photoshop skills are severely lacking.
Does anyone want to continue where I left off?

I've just uploaded a new map to the server. It's exactly the same dimensions as the previous one, but has some extra decoration thrown in around the edges. To try and give it a sort of ice rink feel.

I've created a floor, and if, within your moviepack/settings.cfg you set:
GRID_SIZE_MOVIEPACK 944
it will stretch across the grid quite nicely.
Oh, and you'll have to go into settings and change "Floor Detail: Textured Plane" to see the floor.

It looks somethink like this:


The floor I used is here, any designer might want to use it as a template:

If anyone wants to give it a go and they need anything from me, let me know.

So you just want the floor to look like this last pic you posted? I have passed my drivers licence, so I have many freetime now. I'll probably try to make a floor.

The floor would certainly be the most difficult part to do. But feel free to go crazy on the other sections.
I don't want it to be white though, as this is not a good colour for tron, you can't see the menu for one thing.
I was just using that to loosely base it on. Really, do what you like with it.
I would like to keep that shape though. That's the main point of the exercise.

Hmm, I cant find this "Floor Detail" setting. Do I have to look in the normal settings.cfg or the settings_visual.cfg or somewhere else?

no, it's in the game.

system setup > display settings > Detail settings > Floor Detail

Make sure it's set to Textured plane.

it may be in settings_visual.cfg, I don't know.

I tried to make something, I'm kinda bad with colors so I just made it boring gray/grey.

Haven't been able to try it out because styball seems to be full ALL THE TIME and the time I was able to enter I got stuck syncing.

I made a wall to go with it (sort of). Here's some shots:




I used penguins, it's easier to find shots of lots of penguins than people.
Here's the image. it's called rim_wall_a.png, it's quite big(just over 1mb), if you want to use it you will have to make 3 copies of it and call them: rim_wall_b.png, rim_wall_c.png and rim_wall_d.png.
Anyone feel free to redo it better.

I found "grid_size 1.0"

within the moviepack folder you need to create a file called "settings.cfg"
within this file you add the line:

GRID_SIZE_MOVIEPACK 944

this will stretch the image across the entire grid, instead of tiling it, since the max hieght of the arena is 944.

save as rimwall A »»» rimwall C
save as rimwall B »»» rimwall D

You ever play speedball2 on megadrive? That's what it should have looked like. Great atmosphere.
To play with, I prefer lack's offering with the penguins. This is just a bit too dark. I am really looking something fun and simple. But that's just my opinion, I love the style, there's nothing stopping you from making a speedball style pack for it too.

can i download the moviepack? how i use it ??
