I don't like the philosophy behind Apple products either. However, I love the effects that Apple has has on the Electronics Industry as a whole to make it better. Much of this Legacy was directly from the work of Steve Jobs, who always kept a good big picture vison for Apple.

He didn't event anything. his hardware is no different from others. so from a technical point of view he sucked.
He knew what the crowd will love. design, usability, simplicity. he knew the mix. that made him true visionary.
He got the guts to come back to Apple and take over the boat, ruthless but efficiently.

If you want to remember him watch his Standford speech. his best.
