I've decided to write this Essay about Videogames because I watched some *Royal Beef Episodes of the famous Gameshow GameOne. I felt how VideoGames can influence the Behaviour of People, because of unfair Situations or something like that. I bet everyone has already experienced that. Now, lets start with the actual Essay. (*4 Guys played against each other in 7 Games.)

If I'd ask someone random what a Videogame was, that Person would probably just say "It's a Game at a Console or at the Computer!"..or something like that. Technically, yes, in the Times in we live today. But if you go back in the History, the first real Game was the Nim-Game. This is a Game with Matches, but I don't want to go in details now. Anyway, that Game was played on a NIMROD-Computer which was, around 1950, pretty revolutionary. But back to the Sub, in the past, that Game was very simple. But still, it was one of the Milestones for the Games we play today.
In General, a Videogame is an interactive Medium which can be played as a Program on a PC or on a Console. It's a Visual Output on a Monitor. Simple, but this is it. That's the basic structure of every Game.

As I already said, the Nim-Game was one of the Milestone. But still, there were more. Do you remember the Game "Pong" a.k.a. Tennis for two? Yea, black Background, 2 Sticks, one Ball, and two Nerds. Sadly, there aren't many Extensions in those Times. But still, some were made. Not so long ago, I played one. The Sticks were still Sticks, but the black Background was a nice Football Field. On the Field were also some Penquins...I digress. Anyway, the next big Game was Space Invaders, for the Atari 2600, the good old console. The Demand for those Games and Consoles as a whole was so big that the US Market got 3 Billion US $ Turnover. Although, through many bad Games for the Atari. Because of that, the Turnover in the next Year was way less: 100 Million.

Japan, which wasn't affected hard through the Crash, and in this Year, Nintendo was born. They also created another Console, called Famicom, though, it was only an 8-Bit one. In the following Years, Nintendo created lots of other, really necessary things. For example the NES or the good old Gameboy. Furthermore one of the best Jump 'n' Run was born: Super Mario Bros! Only real old School Gamers remember the good old Times when this Game came in the Stores. In this Era, many others Categories were created: Role Games, Racing, Jump ’n’ Runs, Beat ’em ups, Adventures and so on. Also, another HandGame-Console was marketed: The Atari Lynx. Those, even if you do not believe, were the Predecessor for the Nintendo DS or the PSP!

We're in the early 90's. Nintendo brang another Console on the Market: The Super Nintendo. And not only that one: ThA few Years later, the Playstation, the Sega Saturn and the Nintendo 64 were marketed. This affected the (rudimentary) Jump from 2D to 3D. Also, for the Home Computer 3D-Accelerator-Cards were made. Well, there were already some "tries" for 3D (Doom, Duke-Nukem 3D) but those - as you can already guess - weren't really good. And through this Jump, lots of really good Games were made and, the most important thing, lots of People were thrilled to buy a Console/Home Computer! I suppose, you already know the Progression: Playstation 2, Wii, Xbox, Computer with better Components etc.

This affected a real flood of changes in the Videogame Branch: New Games, new Fun! In those Years, lots of Producers entered the scene: Electronic Arts is a nice Example there. All of you know this Publisher, and has already played at least one Game of them. More and more Publisher came. And now we are in the present Time. The Videogame has affected so many things that there is already the E-Sports Company which organizes Tournaments which includes Money as Prize. Also, there are so-called "LAN-Partys" were some People and play some Games together. Usually, they just play Computer Games. But there are also some Guys who met at someones House and play some at their Ps3 or Xbox(360).

You are forgetting what was the first videogame on the majority of the old mainframes and minicomputers, back in the day, Adventure. It was an interactive story in a fantasy world. The very first RPG.

I did my international bachalaureate, theory of knowledge presentation on grand theft auto 4. Didn't do too badly either.

i had a Z80 (i think this was its name) when i was 4 years old. It used a keyboard, a recorder with audio cassettes and the games were written in basic. My fav game there was Chuckie Egg.
then i had an 8bit nintendo at 8-9 years and my fav game was Battle city. significant to mention would be the game Castle Excellent, which is a very hard game imo.
then at 11 years i had my first pc: Pentium 1, 100MHz, 4MB Ram, 1.7 GB HDD - 1000$, and after a year we payed another 1000$ for a printer oO. i don't know the first game i played, but one of my favourite old games is Prehistorik 2.

4MB ram, duh, technology doesn't seem to step forward...my netbook has 4MB ram as well
About Chuckie Egg, I played some Game called like that quite a while ago, it was about a Chicken in a classic Jump 'n' Run. It was just a 2D with a Touch of 3D Graphic, but still, it seriously made me addicted, but it was just a Demo, and I couldn't find the Game in any store

ah, the beautiful z80, it is the processor that is in the ti-83 and ti-84 lines of calculators. Something i still want to program in ASM instead of TI-Basic.

how can u still use a netbook with 4mb ram

Well, if I connect it with the Power cable (the thing you can load the netbook with), I am able to play CoD and Halo on it (And C&C and some other things, of course, but those two are using a bit more of Private Space.)
