Anyways, there isn't much of a way you can get a free server unless you find some nice guy or gal who will host one for you.

LOL! You posted this after begging me for a free server in Wild Fortress! Just another explanation for you and others that might beg me. I am providing free servers to a VERY select group of people that i refer to as "Server Developers". Because I don't have the time to do all the server development I want to, I choose highly skilled people, like nano, durka, and Pathetique to give servers to. Each of these guys is not only a very experienced and creative server adminstrator, who has created new game modes. But all three of them have varying levels of experience working with PHP and the sty+ct branch. They did not approach me, I approached them. It is doubtful that someone who is not very experienced and begs me for a free server will ever get one. These guys are contributing a ton of work toward my own servers and my education. That is the price they pay.

Anyways, I agree with comp, don't get your hopes up on getting a free server, as it most likely won't happen.

oops, I shouldn't have said "game modes" I really meant unique adaptions of existing game modes. Here is what I was really referring to.

Nano created some of the "nano" physics and such

Durka pretty much created team sumo and CTF w/fortress physics, and has had major influence in helping many other server admins create unique servers.

Pathetique has broken new ground in the past in 6 axis servers with HexSumo, and DBD:Fortress which I currently host. He also has some pretty unique ideas he continues to flesh out with the DBD:Hold the flag w/shooting server, and a few others.

My point is that each of these guys had already shown a track record of making unique servers that have a "niche" audience, but none could afford to do decent hosting to try to really build players in a decent gameserver. I provide these servers to them to try give the tronic community something truly unique, that I just can't do myself. I think people really underestimate the amount of work and play testing that goes into developing a really unique and attractive game server. I do recognize that. I founded "TheServerPharm" to serve as a platform for not just myself, but others, as a team to develop as many cool and fun servers as possible. The next step I am going to take the TheServerPharm as a whole is to put up a resource repository mirror, and a repository for server settings that people can contribute server settings to and include server settings from, with the idea of making it easier for new server administrators to be able to get a new server up and customized to their tastes. I also just upgraded from my European server being a VPS to being an RPS (real private server) which is very similar to a true dedicated server, but the hard drive is actually in a SAN (storage area network) to lower costs. This is the kind of server that Flex has. This will allow me to expand the number and types of servers that I can offer in Europe. I have found the French location of the server to be quite excellent, so far.

Really? Even if some crazy person wanted to stalk him, he only gave his time zone, so it would be very hard.
