Nothing right now. And I can't think of a foolproof way to stop it.
You may notice on your profile you can now add your "grid name", populate this and these forums will pick up your ladder score from both ctwf and flower sumo.
You may also notice when you enter either of these servers it will either say to you something like:
"Thanks for registering at crazy-tronners forums"
or
"Please register at crazy-tronners forums"
depending upon whether or not the ip address used to enter the server matches an the last ip address used to browse these forums.
But there is no method there to enforce a single name. What about brothers or sisters who play from the name network, hence ip. What about those who connect to the forums via a http proxy, yet directly connect to arma via another router?
It all falls down.
One method which may be in the long and distant pipeline is player login:
A player enters the server, is automatically placed in spectator mode. Try as he may he is unable to join a team until he is logged in.
To do this he types in:
/login ct-eddie supersecret
where ct-eddie is the players gridname (as specified in the profile, displayed over there <--) and supersecret is his ct forum password.
Then his name (if it isn't already) will be changed to ct-eddie and he joins a team.
True, you can change your gridname in your profile, but the ladders will be based on forum name, not gridname.
Problems:
1. Register again on the forums under a new name, create a new gridname/pass, etc. <-- this could be policed, if there was a dave and davep at the top of the ladder, we could easily see what was going on and delete one. Not totally fool proof.
2. Do we really want to go this route anyway? Will people be bothered? It might just kill ctwf overnight. Certainly new players will probably just go elsewhere where they don't need to register on forums to play.
On the plus side it will be a lot easier to control the banning of players.
Any suggestions/thoughts welcome on this.
