So Im guessing the clan.

No it's not ... the game came first. Then the servers came in. Then the players invade them. Then they create teams or so called clan (I don't like the "clan" name anyway). Then the clans build servers to have their place and bring something back to the game...

so let me see if I got it straight, Ed had a server, similar to CTWF, then Xevi, him and PTA founded CT and used ed's server as the clans. Is that right?

I toyed with servers containing crazy maps based on the classic fortress model (then cvs fortress).
Xevi started Crazy Tronners.
I joined and figured it was time to take my idea's to the next level. We needed a server to call our own.
Crazy Tronners Wild Fortress was born (originally called "Ed's Mad Fortress").
It became too popular for my server to handle - it maxed out at 25Gb usage/month, CTWF was using 2.5Gb/day, it was becoming expensive.
Luckily PTA came along with a server that could hangle Chico and the traffic.
Since then it's evolved with many other peoples idea's. maps, hacks, etc to what it is today.

thanks for the history. I just wondered how CT got off the ground. Now I know! Thanks to all who contributed.

You'll have to wait for Xevi's answer on that. As I remember it Shadow came later.
It was Xevi and me who set up this website, etc. Shadow joined as an admin later. I stepped down as clan admin to concentrate on the server side of things, shadow later did the same due to time limitations.
PTA soon after joined Xevi as admin.

mmm, i think there is another topic with this info...

my head is losing details, but if i'm not wrong we started it on the cvs fortress with king, ed, skip and omega. Then we get the "first space" a googlegroup, just 4 a day, then a couple of weeks on a yahoo group, then ed made the forum, we tunned it, the server comes laters... in this process we got more mates like pta, demon, shadow, freak, nrx, warze and some i will be missing....
