then appetizing and i still have to read input and transformations.

some people like letters on maps, but really it is just a stepping stone for me to goto complete map creation in an applet. it is sort of like my intersection applet only that one is a bit more useful.

One way to rotate a set of points:

newx = oldx*cos(angle) - oldy*sin(angle);
newy = oldx*sin(angle) + oldy*cos(angle)

Better yet, use a transformation matrix:

[[cos(angle) -sin(angle) 0]
[sin(angle) cos(angle) 0]
[0 0 1]]

To obtain the translated point, multiply the matrix with the position vector of the original point:

? xnew ? ? xold ? ? cos(angle) -sin(angle) 0 ?
? ynew ? = ? yold ? * ? sin(angle) cos(angle) 0 ?
? 1 ? ? 1 ? ? 0 0 1 ?

The nice thing about this is that you can multiply multiple matrices together to do multiple transformations at once Smile

So much for ASCII art.

EDIT: The java applet only shows �invalid bytecode� for me.

i look at i know i used jdk 1.6_0 to make it but i'm sure i can use another one

thanks for the rotation help. i'll put that in soon.

EDIT: I rebuilt it for jre 1.5 or higher try that first or else maybe update your JAVA

wrtlprnft ->> Try emerging new sun-jdk, there's sun-jdk-1.6.0-r1 in portage now. I not sure about 1.5, since I skipped just now from blackdown 1.4 straight to sun-jdk 1.6 and the applet works without any problems.

BTW: Don't want to teach you, but you had nsplugin disabled.

I'd rather not have too many unstable packets. There's already 121 installed Sad

Anyways, the problem was that opera was really using a slotted sun-jre-bin.2.4.something, which was too old apparently. It works now.

And no, I don't need nsplugin because I don't use netscape or some browser derived from it Razz

Opera has its own java support.
